Superintendent of Police (SP) Industrial Area Adeel Akbar has died after reportedly shooting himself, according to police sources.
Sources said the SP sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately shifted to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that SP Adeel Akbar took his gunman’s weapon and shot himself in the chest after receiving a phone call. Police have taken the gunman, the operator, and other personnel present at the scene into custody for questioning.
A heavy police contingent has been deployed outside the hospital, while an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including details of the last phone call received by the officer.
