Srinagar: The Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has intensified its campaign for the restoration of full statehood to the territory by organizing a hunger strike in Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest, held under the banner “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” campaign, took place at the party’s Srinagar headquarters today. The hunger strike was led by IIOJK Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra, who was joined by senior Congress leaders, legislators, district presidents, and several party functionaries. The protest is part of the party’s ongoing agitation programme across the occupied territory.
The participants reiterated the Congress party’s firm demand for the immediate restoration of occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the revival of its democratic institutions.
Speaking during the protest, Karra emphasized that the people of IIOJK have been deprived of their constitutional and democratic rights since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. He said that the Congress remains committed to fighting for the dignity, rights, and political empowerment of the people of the territory.
