Islamabad 14, Aug : ( ) Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Spokesperson stated today that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not oppose India’s independence, nor do they harbor any hostility towards the nation. Instead, they seek recognition of their own political rights and self-determination. Every year on August 15, the people of Jammu and Kashmir observe a Black Day to protest against the continued denial of their freedoms by India.
The Spokesperson emphasized that this observance is not an act of animosity but a peaceful assertion of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have the utmost respect for the independence of every nation,” the Spokesperson said. “However, the harsh reality is that India has systematically undermined the freedom of the Kashmiri people, leaving them no choice but to protest every August 15 to remind New Delhi and the global community that our struggle for justice and self-determination continues.”
The JKSM Spokesperson recalled how India once fought for its independence from British colonial rule, drawing a parallel with the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. “It is ironic that the same country which once stood against colonial oppression is now subjugating the people of Jammu and Kashmir through deceitful politics and military might,” the Spokesperson noted. “Our struggle for freedom is no different from India’s fight against British rule.”
The Spokesperson also condemned the widespread arrests and oppressive measures that are routinely enforced across the region around August 15. “For the people of Kashmir, India’s Independence Day is marked by fresh waves of repression,” the statement read. “Kashmiris are subjected to identity checks, house searches, and restrictions in their own homeland, all under the guise of security.
Spokesman JKSM called for international attention to the plight of the Kashmiri people, urging the world to recognize and support their legitimate aspirations for freedom and self-determination.
