Mount Maunganui: New Zealand has defeated Pakistan by 101 runs in the first Test in Mount Maunganui despite a century by Fawad Alam.
According to details, Pakistan was chasing a target of 373 runs to win. Fawad Alam and Muhammad Rizwan’s partnership of 165-run raised hopes for the team, but the batting line collapsed following their dismissal.
Fawad Alam scored a century after ten years.
Later, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah played for seven overs before Naseem had to return to pavilion on the bowl of Mitchell Santner.
From New Zealand’s side Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult and Santner all took two wickets each.
