Jammu & Kashmir Salvation Movement (J&KSM) Vice Chairman Ab Qadeer on Wednesday urged UN Gen Secretary to appoint a commission of inquiry for independent investigations into rights abuses in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
While the whole world is celebrating Human Rights Day, but people in Jammu and Kashmir are denied the same, he added.

It is obligatory upon UNO to press upon New Delhi to stop the gross human rights violation forthwith and initiate measures for the resolution of the dispute which is on UN Agenda since 1948 and is the main cause of all human rights violations in J&K,” he said.
V.Chairman Salvation Movement said that when the world is observing Human Rights Day, Indian occupational forces have surpassed all records of committing barbarity and excesses on the Kashmiri people. He said that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, was a milestone with regard to the rights and freedom of every human being, but despite this universal document, Kashmiri people’s political and human rights were being violated constantly.
We hope you and the institution of United Nations will stand up for the protection of human rights everywhere including in conflict-torn Kashmir,” the chairman said.
For the last 73 years, we have been striving for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity and we greatly acknowledge the UN report on the human rights situation in Kashmir.
People in Kashmir, who for seven decades have suffered a conflict that has claimed or ruined numerous lives. We are being killed, caged, maimed and thousands were disappeared.

Despite the tall claims of Indian authorities we are not even allowed to express our feelings freely and peacefully.
The repressive and authoritarian state even disallows peaceful protests and even women and children are arrested and lodged in jails.
New Delhi has turned Jammu Kashmir into a big jail and its agencies like NIA and ED are haunting every Kashmiri.

“Massive crackdown was launched on the leadership as well as traders, transporter, and even businessmen who raised their genuine voices for suppressed and depressed Kashmiri’s and were put behind bars.
The statement states that” abuse and injustice continue on the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Seventy-three years have passed and we continue to suffer immensely at the hands of forces, who are implementing the policy of subjugation and control over our lives, rights resources, culture, and dignity.”
The forces during night raids arrest whosoever come in their way, said Chairman, saying Jammu and Kashmir have seen and continues to see worst ever human rights violations as state repression goes from bad to worse with an increase in killings, especially of youth. Daily based cordon and search operations conducted by forces lead to deaths and destruction.
The conflict has consumed hundreds of thousands of lives in J&K. This year alone 201 civilians have lost their lives due to the Kashmir conflict.
Today in Tiken Pulwama three youth were killed by forces and more than a dozen houses were blown up by using mortar shells or improvised explosive devices (IED).
Chairman said that troops operating in the Jammu & Kashmir enjoy impunity in the form of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from prosecution for the crimes against humanity committed by them.

Voice Chairman J&KSM urged UN authorities to urgently establish as proposed by the OHCHR a UN commission of inquiry to conduct a comprehensive and independent international investigation into allegations of human rights violations in Kashmir to end the cycles of violence and ensure accountability for past and current violations and abuses occupied Jammu & Kashmir.”
