The Ittehad-e-Muslimeen in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir has said that Indian police did not allow party president Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari to leave his residence to prevent him from attending Muharram celebrations. According to the spokesperson of Ittehad-e-Muslimeen in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the continued detention of the party president and said that Maulana Masroor was barred from performing his religious duties and was not allowed to attend Ashura gatherings. ۔
He said that Maulana Masroor has been under house arrest since 8th Muharram and this operation reflects the sectarian mentality of the occupying administration.
He said that the agenda of RSS was being implemented in the area from Nagpur. The spokesman said that such tactics would not succeed in silencing the voice of the majority in Kashmir. He strongly condemned the unnecessary ban on peaceful Muharram processions and the brutality of the police. He strongly condemned the arrest and violence, the rain of bullets on a peaceful procession in Bamna, Srinagar on 9th Muharram, the ban on Ashura procession and the house arrest of the Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen leadership, calling it the worst form of discrimination.
