The Punjab government\u2019s counsel sought time to comply with the court order.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bsac bsac-clearfix bsac-post-inline bsac-float-center bsac-align-center bsac-column-1 bsac-hide-on-phone\">\n<div id=\"bsac-438396-691817554\" class=\"bsac-container bsac-type-custom_code  bsac-hide-on-phone\" data-adid=\"438396\" data-type=\"custom_code\">\n<div id=\"v-arynews-tv-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The bench directed the government to submit a detailed report spelling out what measures it has thus far taken to ensure availability of the essential food items in markets and control their prices.<\/p>\n<p>The government is further required to apprise the court on how much sugar and wheat were imported and their rates at which both commodities were purchased.<\/p>\n<p>On December 4, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the ex-mill price of sugar came down by Rs20 per kilogramme in 20 days due to the government\u2019s effective intervention in the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to Twitter, PM Khan said the distribution of imported sugar at control rates and timely start of the crushing season was also ensured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDistribution of imported sugar at control rates and timely start of crushing season also ensured.
