{"id":4974,"date":"2020-09-07T11:03:45","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T11:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailykashmirpost.com\/eng\/?p=4974"},"modified":"2020-09-07T11:03:45","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T11:03:45","slug":"epic-games-asks-court-to-force-apple-to-reinstall-fortnite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailykashmirpost.com\/eng\/2020\/09\/07\/epic-games-asks-court-to-force-apple-to-reinstall-fortnite\/","title":{"rendered":"Epic Games asks court to force Apple to reinstall Fortnite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Epic Games is trying to convince a California court to reinstate Fortnite on the Apple App Store pending legal proceedings, arguing that doing so is in the \u201cpublic interest,\u201d court documents show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If not, the game could suffer \u201cirreparable harm,\u201d the company\u2019s lawyers said in a new lawsuit delivered Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The gambit comes amid a battle over whether Apple\u2019s tight control over the App Store, and its 30 percent cut of revenue, counts as monopolistic behavior.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bsac bsac-clearfix bsac-post-inline bsac-float-center bsac-align-center bsac-column-1\">\n<div id=\"bsac-312359-1855689155\" class=\"bsac-container bsac-type-custom_code \" data-adid=\"312359\" data-type=\"custom_code\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Apple pulled Fortnite from its online mobile apps marketplace on August 13 after Epic released an update that dodges revenue sharing with the iPhone maker.<\/p>\n<p>Last month a US court rejected Epic\u2019s bid to have Fortnite reinstated on the App Store, saying its eviction by Apple was a \u201cself-inflicted wound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver 116 million registered users have accessed Fortnite through iOS \u2014 more than any other platform,\u201d Epic says in the new complaint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy eliminating many of these players from Fortnite, and blocking Fortnite\u2019s ability to access over a billion iOS users, Apple is irreparably harming Epic\u2019s chances,\u201d it continues.<\/p>\n<p>Daily active users have dropped by more than 60 percent since Fortnite was removed, it says, while Epic\u2019s reputation has also taken a hit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEpic may never see these users again,\u201d the lawsuit says.<\/p>\n<p>But it did not back down from its fight against Apple, stating that the tech giant \u201cis a monopolist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to the legal row, Fortnite fans using iPhones or other Apple products no longer have access to the latest game updates, including the new season released at the end of August.<\/p>\n<p>Apple does not allow users of its popular devices to download apps from anywhere but its App Store.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Epic Games is trying to convince a California court to reinstate Fortnite on the Apple App Store pending legal proceedings, arguing that doing so is in the \u201cpublic interest,\u201d court documents show.
