So the living main reasons of these calamities are hazards and disasters are the main threat for the living organism beings across the globe must notice the reasons and plan the procedures and measures to be taken to address these problems and to stop and lessen the things which are the main cause of these natural calamities. Climate change in Pakistan is a major issue for the country. The misuse of new inventions by human race. Pollution, emissions, explosives, nuclear tests, wars and use of ammunition and global warming are the main factors behind the climate change. Pakistan is highly vulnerable to climate change. As with the changing climate in South Asia as a whole, the climate of Pakistan has changed over the past several decades, with significant of the country, the melting of glaciers in the Himalayas has impacted some of the important rivers of Pakistan. aspects of life. Water is inextricably linked to the three pillars of sustainable development, and it integrates social, cultural, economic and political values. We need better water governance, people.

impacts on the environment and In addition to increased heat, drought and extreme weather in parts Water is a fundamental part of all finance, assessment and collaborative mechanisms to validate these cross-interest collaborations, ensuring a water secure world for all by all.

We must meet environmental, cultural, social and economic challenges with sustainable, equitable and resilient solutions. Climate issues faced by the World need quick measures like reducing emissions, reducing waste, and ensuring fair usage of water. The World community need to stand together to stop the countries who are fighting or are at the brink of the War. The Afghan war, Ukraine war and War in African and Arab countries and the conflicts where ammunition is used constantly have added the fuel global warming. Deforestation and random constructions, building of new cities and demolishing the natural landscape are also the heavy factors behind global warming. For three decades the UN has been

bringing together every country on earth for global climate summits for ‘Conference of the Parties’ or COPS. In 2015, COP 21 was when the historic Paris Agreement was born to keep global warming to 1.5C.

However, the commitments laid out in Paris did not limit global warming and the window for achieving this is closing. The Glasgow Climate Pact has kept the hope of 1.5C alive but has also highlighted the collective effort needed by all countries to ensure they deliver as per their pledged commitments.

The Pakistan Climate Conference built its discussion around these commitments that are necessary to

save the world and specifically environment of Pakistan. The National Climate Change Policy, framed by the Government of Pakistan as the guiding policy document for the country on climate change, acknowledges the growing risk of future extreme natural hazards due to climate change

Pakistan has less than 6% total forest area. This, combined with climate change, exacerbates challenges such as flooding, heat waves, and soil loss.

By now it is clear that what is happening in Pakistan and what is likely to happen in the future is the

result of global warming. Rise in air temperature makes it possible to carry more water than usual, and the faster melting of glaciers, Pakistan experienced about four times more rainfall than the 30-year average. Rainfall picked up even more as monsoon season began in July 2022 which became the wettest on record since 1961. The glaciers from which the rivers of the Indus system draw most of their water is resulting in floods. Experts have known for a while that Pakistan is one of the countries that is going to be most affected by

global climate change. The weather-related events in Pakistan were extreme. Scientists found that the heat that scorched India and Pakistan in the spring of 2022 had been 30 times as likely to occur because of greenhouse emissions.

July’s 2022 extreme heat in Britain had been at least ten times as likely, the group found. Pakistan may have experienced disastrously high rainfall this year, which made it hard to pin down precisely how much severe this season was because of climate change. Extreme weather, such as cyclones or intense monsoons are likely to increase in Pakistan because of increased sea and atmospheric temperature.

Pakistan had become an example of a poor country paying the price of the sins committed by what were

now rich nations. Around 33 million people in Pakistan in the country have been impacted by the devastating floods that hit the country over the summer. Families have lost their homes, livelihoods, and in some cases loved ones.

The catastrophic floods main causes were increased precipitation and glaciers melting fueled by climate change. One third of the country was under water. Three million acres of land containing many villages have been submerged in the coastal areas of the districts Thatta, Badin and Sajawal over

the past 40 years. This loss of has resulted in the migration of over 1 million people from these districts to urban centers like Karachi. Pakistan, although only contributing 0.9% to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, is one of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change.

The most important targets for mitigation efforts focused on reduction of GHG emissions are the energy and agriculture sectors. In the energy sector, integration of climate change and energy policy objectives is particularly important as today’s investment such as in the Thur coalfield will “lock in” the infrastructure, fuel and technologies to be used for decades to come. To control and to reduce the

environmental disasters and natural calamities we need to take concrete steps. We should keep fossil fuels in the ground, switch our vehicles to electricity, use renewables, manage wastage, control air pollution, increase the area of forests and support nature by every means.

By : Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar Climate Change and Environmental through the World.
