{"id":18202,"date":"2022-07-01T01:33:50","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T01:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailykashmirpost.com\/eng\/?p=18202"},"modified":"2022-07-01T01:33:50","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T01:33:50","slug":"former-pm-seeks-cms-re-election-sans-hamza-in-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailykashmirpost.com\/eng\/2022\/07\/01\/former-pm-seeks-cms-re-election-sans-hamza-in-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"Former PM seeks CM\u2019s re-election sans Hamza in chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad : (KPN) Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has announced that his party will approach the Supreme Court on Friday (today) against the Lahore High Court\u2019s decision to conduct Punjab chief minister\u2019s election again, saying that free and fair elections cannot be held with Hamza Shehbaz in the chair.<\/p>\n<p>PML-N\u2019s Hamza was \u201celected\u201d as the new Punjab chief minister on April 16, securing 197 votes while his rival candidate PML-Q Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi declared the polls \u201cillegal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified 25 PTI MPAs for deviating from party policy, which is against the Constitution, and voting in favour of Hamza.<\/p>\n<p>In a video message on Thursday, former premier Imran took exception to the LHC\u2019s decision of holding the Punjab CM\u2019s re-election within 24 hours, saying that six of his party\u2019s MPAs had gone to perform Hajj and within 24 hours, even people from Rajanpur and far-flung areas will not be able to make it in time. \u201cSo, free and fair elections cannot be held,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>After Humza\u2019s election as the CM, he said, the ECP was supposed to notify the people on five reserved seats, who had been disqualified, but the commission made a very \u201cunconstitutional decision\u201d, saying that it cannot happen until by-elections were conducted. After that, \u201cwe went to the high court and now the decision has come\u201d. \u201cThe LHC rejected the ECP\u2019s decision \u2026 it was publically announced that members be notified on five reserved seats\u201d, but that had not yet happened, which meant that they would not be able to vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd now 20 by-elections are being conducted, which means that they will also not be able to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another thing, he said, elections will be held \u201cunder Hamza\u201d. \u201cHe will not allow free and fair elections to take place.\u201d He accused Hamza of trying to influence the elections by using the police, local administration and the ECP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the LHC has said that Hamza\u2019s election was unconstitutional, then how can he remain the chief minister \u2026 under which law,\u201d Imran questioned, adding that they were going to the SC to seek clarification on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Imran claimed that conducting the chief minister\u2019s re-election with Hamza in the chair would increase the political turmoil in the country, especially Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe know that the Sharif family cannot do anything honestly.
