Akhtar had been admitted to a hospital since the past two months. He was fighting lung cancer and facing multiple health complications. His funeral prayers will be offered after Asar.<\/p>\n<p>The Pride of Performance recipient, Akhtar made several contributions to the film and television\u00a0world. He participated in\u00a0theatre productions too.\u00a0Akhtar\u00a0shot to fame with one of his early plays,\u00a0<em>Paisa Bolta Hai<\/em>, which was staged at Alhamra Arts Council in the 1970s.\u00a0He starred\u00a0in around 150 Lollywood\u00a0Punjabi and Urdu films,\u00a0including\u00a0<em>Neelam, Qatil, Main Akela, Khoon Da\u00a0<\/em><em>R<\/em><em>ishta, Badal<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Zakhmi<\/em><em>,<\/em>\u00a0among others.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.tribune.com.pk\/media\/images\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-03-05-at-11-38-38-AM1646465318-0\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-03-05-at-11-38-38-AM1646465318-0.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Governor Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, expressed his sorrow over Akhtar\u2019s demise. \u201cMasood Akhtar will always be remembered for his contributions to the entertainment industry of Pakistan. The void he has left can never be filled,\u201d said Sarwar. \u201cWith his roles, the late actor always aimed to right the wrongs in society. I pray he receive the highest rank in\u00a0<em>Jannatul Firdous<\/em>\u00a0and may God give his family the patience and strength to bear the loss,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Chief minister Punjab Usman Buzdar also prayed for Akhtar and offered his condolences to the bereaved. \u201cAkhtar was a versatile actor. He was always convincing onscreen and made several contributions to the field of entertainment.
