In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, has said that the prolonged uncertainty in the territory is taking a heavy toll on every sector, maintaining that the depth of Kashmir\u2019s suffering goes beyond economic catastrophe.<\/p>\n
Farooq Abdullah addressing a gathering in Bandipora district said, Kashmir has subsided from memory of the rulers in New Delhi and the situation on the ground contradicts the Indian Government\u2019s claim.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe uncertainty on all the fronts \u2013 political, economic and educational \u2013 has only deepened since 2019. Our youth continue to be at the receiving end of it. Repeated assurances and promises by the Government to create new jobs and fill the existing vacancies have not fructified. Thousands of daily wage workers working in different departments are suffering but nothing substantial is being done to address their long pending issues,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the Kashmiri youth are sinking under the weight of the incumbent administration\u2019s indifference. \u201cThe mounting evidence is in the form of widespread and scathing unemployment and job losses resulting in their continuing alienation and frustration,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Farooq Abdullah said the incumbent administration\u2019s lack of interest in the needs of youths has also incurred a cost in terms of their physical and mental health. \u201cMired by hopelessness and anxiety, our youths are taking to drug addiction and substance abuse.
